This shows you all interactables as well as the name and general health of creatures on the screen. One thing I've noticed about the mobile version of EE that is worth noting is that it has a looking-glass mode, which is equivalent to keeping a finger on the tab button. All told it's been more stable for me than the original BG ever was. As previously mentioned it doesn't play too well with sleep mode, so do quicksave it when you can before turning the phone off. The screen can stick (can't drag to another area) but it's not common and a reload will solve it. BG1 ran on windows 95/98, but I still remember dealing with all the bugs from BG1.I have the Android version of EE and I haven't hit many bugs. My understanding is that the enhanced edition uses the BG2 engine and presumably has less bugs than the windows BG1. Note that the original edition of BG1 was much buggier than BG2. So far, not knowing any different, I rather like it. I'd heard from other people that they weren't fond of the enhanced edition, but frankly I was never going to play the game any other way and fancied giving it a go. Don't know if it was supposed to do that or not - I hadn't saved in a little while and when I came back it didn't happen, though I had made a couple of slightly different decisions on the way :) I've taken to saving and exiting every time that I want to put it down for five minutes, to save the battery.Īlso, at one point I walked into a new area and there was a bit of a flash and I found myself surrounded by like 8 guys with bows and was immediately mown down. I have noticed that if I manually turn off the screen on my phone (it doesn't turn off itself through inactivity) then when I bring it back up the game is usually frozen. BG1 ran on windows 95/98, but I still remember dealing with all the bugs from BG1.I've only put in a couple of hours play, but it seems ok so far. I think that OP will be unable to abuse Algernon's Cloak (the one that gives infinite Charm Person charges) in EE, but aside from that, everything I wrote should be perfectly servicable. What I wrote is, however, 99% true for the Enhanced Edition, as despite many changes, the core gameplay, the dialogues and the plot stay the same. I don't really understand which bugs are you talking about, but if there really are any game breaking ones, I probably forgot about them since the base game has plenty of fixes that I implemented a long time ago and never looked back, because, hey, why not. BG1 ran on windows 95/98, but I still remember dealing with all the bugs from BG1.I'm vehemently against the Enhanced Edition and things I wrote are all based on the base game. This disappointed me, as the android edition was the only one that made much sense to buy (even though I still haven't gotten around to buying any android device past a Nook color). Is any of this Android specific? My understanding was the android edition was pretty buggy. Not that worried about optimization really, just want to make sure I'm not making things ridiculously difficult for myself. Last, and more of a rules based question I suppose, do touch based spells require strength for their accuracy? My 3e sorcerer used touch spells quite a bit, but with weapon finesse so I didn't need to worry about having much in my strength stat, I don't immediately see any way I can recreate that on BG. For that matter, will I get experience if I scare off random encounters? He was kind've like a classic vampire in approach a lot of the time. Second, are social spells, like charm person, useful in this game? Or is it difficult to work your way around obstacles in that way? My character was a sorcerer, who typically used charm person and cause fear to avoid altercations. Normal RPG strategy is to flatter the pants of everyone and be nice all the time, am I going to struggle if I don't do this much? I'm thinking of recreating a character I had in 3e DnD, but wanted to work out if I'm wasting my time trying as I don't have a load of time for trial and error in gaming anymore.įirstly, do you strictly suffer if you don't treat NPCs with respect? My previous character was a selfish but charming aristocrat, with a bit of a sadistic streak, so I'd like to be able to choose options that reflect his personality, and be nice to people only when it seems likely that I'll get something out of it. I never played Baldurs Gate back in the day, so when I noticed that it was now available on Android I thought it might be a good time to give it a go.
